Key Eligibility Requirements For LR Licence In Adelaide
To enrol in LR Licence Adelaide course, you must meet the following criteria:
- Minimum age – 18 years
- Must have held a Class C (Car) Licence for at least 1 year (including “P” Plates)
- Overseas Licence evidence MUST be provided if SA Licence has been held for less than 1 year.
- Must supply own LR vehicle.
Training Options for LR Truck Licence
We offer both Vehicle On Road Test (VORT) and Competency Based Training & Assessment (CBT&A) format, giving you the flexibility to choose what works best for your learning style and schedule.
VORT – Vehicle On Road Test
- Minimum 1 day of training is typically recommended before attempting the VORT.
- The VORT test may be conducted on the same day after training.
- Assessment includes:
- 85% System of Vehicle Control
- 100% compliance with Road Law
- Vehicle Check
- Secure Load
- Moving Off Uphill
- Reversing
- Kerb Stop
- Substitute (Moving Off Downhill)
- Hills and Open Road Drive
CBT&A (Logbook) Format
- Delivered as per government-approved logbook standards
- Average duration: 9 hours (varies depending on skill level)
Booking Your LR Truck Licence Course
To book your LR Truck Licence Adelaide course, simply call us on 0484 11 22 22 between 7:00am and 7:00pm, Monday to Sunday. We’ll arrange dates and times that suit your availability.
Payment Information
- When making a booking, we require a deposit of $500 to secure the date.
- Payment is due on the day of the training. Payment can be made by cash or credit/debit card or bank account transfer.
- Please note JD’s Truck Training Centre accepts Visa and Mastercard only. There is a 2.3% surcharge on all card transactions.
Cancellation Policy
- Cancellations will only be accepted in writing.
- Cancellations for courses and/or training must be received at least seven (7) clear business days prior to the commencement of the course. For heavy vehicle licence upgrades, seven (7) business days’ notice is required before the training program commences. Cancellations may incur a full payment charge (as set out in the applicable Proposal).
- The Client will be charged the full fee for the nominated licence class in cases of non-attendance or cancellation without prior written notice within 7 business days, unless, in JDSTTC’s opinion, there are extenuating circumstances.
- If you choose to cancel your course with more than 7 business days’ notice, a $250.00 administration fee will be payable.
- If an enrolled participant is unable to attend a scheduled course or part of a course, the Client may substitute a different participant with the prior consent of JDSTTC, which will not be unreasonably withheld.
What to Bring for Your Truck Licence Training in Adelaide
- Current South Australian Driver’s licence.
- Appropriate footwear must be worn during training e.g. Sport shoes. No open footwear is allowed. Safety Gloves are optional when conducting vehicle checks.
- JD’s Truck Training Centre supplies all vehicles.
- Own vehicles can be supplied. The vehicle must be registered, locally plated (NO Federal Plates), road worthy & insured. The vehicle must be at least 75% loaded with NO Dangerous Goods.
- The applicant will be required to be present at least 15 minutes before the commencement of each lesson.

Never driven a HR automatic truck on road before but now work’s calling for it so I came and see JD. I went from 0 to hero in a couple of hours, traversing all the road and roundabouts around the Wingfield area. Copped a sore left knee but sure did got my HR at the end of the day. Thanks JD!

I had a wonderful experience with JD, he was really polite and patient and really good at teaching and explaining a variety of road situations. Also very great value service, I'd highly recommend anybody to get their heavy vehicle licence here.
